Injection leads to perfection.
Why injection molding? The better question is "Why not?”
Plastics have become a primary material in countless applications, and injection molding is the most widely used polymeric fabrication process in the business. It's also the heart of SEA-LECT Plastics. Injection molding has its roots in metal die casting, with some important differences. Injection molding eliminates one or more assembly operations by molding multifunctional complex configurations into a single part. When melted, polymers must be injected into the mold, which forms the part. When the appropriate material is chosen for a specific application, the molded part demonstrates strength, dimensional stability, and (if necessary) self lubrication properties. In addition, it is often possible to mold metal components into a plastic part. Identical parts are produced through a cyclic process involving the melting of a pellet or powder resin followed by the injection of the polymer melt into the mold cavity.

Pressure? We love it!
Plastic is forced into a mold cavity under extreme pressure, typically between 5,000 to 20,000 psi. At SEA-LECT we can apply this process in a number of ways, by either using molds you provide or creating molds to your specifications. As well, our specialized injection molding processes can be used to form a wide variety of products and parts, from single-cavity to complex multi-cavity.

Does your job require more than basic injection molding? SEA-LECTt also specializes in engineered thermoplastics, fiber reinforced thermoplastics, thermosetting plastics and elastomers. Insert Molding, during which a core and skin is comprised of different material, is another of our in-house features.

The right tooling works wonders.
When it comes to tooling in the injection molding process, SEA-LECT pays special attention to ensure that each mold is built to precise specifications and can withstand the high pressures of the process. Depending on your molding needs, SEA-LECT uses hardened tool steel, which can withstand 500,000 to 2 million cycles, or softer materials such as aluminum, when tool life is not important or lower injection pressures are used (SPI-Tooling Standards). Depending upon the configuration of the part, injection cycle times from start to finish range from a few seconds to several minutes.

Economics...in SEA-LECTive terms.
Time is money. Injection molding the SEA-LECT way is a cost efficient means to produce small or large quantities of parts. Our shop is set up to achieve the maximum output of this complex, high capacity process; and with 18 machines, we have the flexibility to mass produce a number of parts simultaneously.

SEA-LECT's attention to detail is your assurance that the complex variables of the injection molding process are handled with your needs in mind. We wouldn't want it any other way. That's why, when you choose us for custom injection molding, you're in SEA-LECT company.
